JEremy atticus "jem" Finch

Jeremy "Jem" Finch is Atticus's first child and Scout's older brother. Although the story is from Scout's point of view, Jem is the main protagonist. He leads Dill and Scout on many of their adventures and keeps them in check so that they don't do something that Atticus dissapproves of. At the beginning of the story Jem struggles with having an older father who doesn't play with him like a 'regular father' should. As the novel progresses Jem matures and comes to realize that Atticus is strong in other ways. Jem is a large representation of the novels theme of coming of age.
